Here's a view of the completed finishing room. It has a roll-up double garage door for easy access for large projects. The drywall went up on the partition wall and then I painted the
walls and ceiling. I bought two metal cabinets from the Habitat ReStore where I volunteer. They're perfect for paints, stains, lacquers, varnishes and everything else involved in putting on the final
finish on my projects. They were badly rusted on the bottom so I ground them down and sprayed on rust-inhibiting primer and color-matching finish coat, then sat them on a section of vinyl runner. I piped
in compressed air for blowing off dust and driving my spray gun - you can just see the orange ceiling-mounted reel on the left side. Later I'll build a bench and a lazy susan to be able to rotate small projects.
You can see this room is completely separate from the main shop room to stop any dust contaminating the finish. I will have to bring the projects around the side of the building but in the end I think it's worth
the effort. |
